President Obama Cites the I-75 Design/Build ARRA Project During His Labor Day Speech
During his stop in Cincinnati on Labor Day, President Obama cited the I-75 Design-Build (D/B) project in Hamilton County as a part of the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program:

“Across America, we’ve saved the jobs of tens of thousands of state and local workers-including teachers and first responders here in Ohio. We’re rebuilding America’s infrastructure, including the improvements to I-75 in Hamilton County-led by a local Cincinnati contractor-and more than 200 other highway projects across Ohio.”

The noted Cincinnati contractor is John R. Jurgenson Company who won the D/B project with Rii as design firm providing multi-disciplinary services. This ARRA-funded project involves resurfacing 2.5 miles of the 4-lane highway of I-75, including 5 bridges.

The prebid meeting for this fast-tracked project was held June 8, 2009 and Letting Date was July 15, 2009. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) formally awarded the contract on July 27, 2009.

Rii’s contribution to date for this fast moving project was the creation (saving) of 8 jobs and over $14,000 in Payroll for the month of August. All kept within the State of Ohio.

The $6.1 million project is expected to be complete in October 2010.
