"Construction
is a huge paper generator. Our intentions have been to make this as electronic
as possible. It's a great tool."

Technology Services: Construction Management,
Assessment and Master Planning Web Site
Currently
managing $3.5 billion in school construction - - nearly 400 projects and
3,000 project team members.
Resource International
developed an interactive, secure Web site for the Ohio School Facilities
Commission (OSFC) to assist in the management and reporting of all state-assisted
school construction and renovation projects in the State of Ohio. With
the Ohio School Facilities Commission’s goal in mind to create a
paperless process, the web site, currently managing close to $3 billion
in construction, is continuously being enhanced as the clients desired
features are defined. Throughout the life of the OSFC program, it will
grow to manage over $10 billion in construction while helping keep Commission
staff to a minimum.
Within the system,
a relational database stores the web site’s dynamic content, including
financial details, contact information, photographs and bid calendars.
The system is used by the Project Administrators at the Ohio School Facilities
Commission, construction management teams, architects, contractors, school
boards and even the general public to view school construction progress.
A bid announcement system allows contractors to check upcoming bids all
across the state, offering more variety to the selection of contractors
at a CM’s disposal, as well as the menu of jobs available to a contractor.
Resource International provides end user training to the construction
teams on an as needed basis.
After the success
of the original base-system, additional components have been added to
expand its usefulness including a Facilities Maintenance System, a Variance
Request System and an Assessment and Master Planning System.
