Bridge Deck Evaluations

Resource International conducted a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey of both the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.

The purpose of the survey was to locate and map delamination and/or deterioration in the concrete deck through the overlay wearing surfaces of the bridges.

Both Bridges are a combined 1.3 million in square feet. The decks were surveyed in under 6 six days with no disruption to traffic. The final report dipicted both partial and full depth repair and was deleivered in six weeks.

The bridges are scheduled to have deck rehabilitation performed in the near future, and the results of the GPR survey will be used to locate areas that will require concrete repair.
