The construction of the Great American Ballpark began in August of 2000 and was completed in early 2003. The new ballpark, which replaced the former Cinergy Field, has a seating capacity of just over 42,000. Along with the ball park, several other structures were part of the project including a parking garage.
Rii provided all special inspection and construction materials testing related to earthwork, foundations, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post-tension concrete, structural steel, sprayed on fireproofing, masonry, HVAC, electrical and sprinkler systems. A challenging aspect of this project was the aggressive fresh concrete testing schedule which required every delivery to be tested. In addition, Rii utilized a web-based reporting system, Projectgrid.comTM for reporting and documentation of progress. This system provides a permanent archive for the project.
