Since 2005, Rii has been performing bridge deck condition evaluations for Caltrans. Rii used GPR to survey and evaluate several large structures, as well as highway bridges across the State.

Route 5 Bridges - 2006-2007
Rii surveyed 58 bridges on  Interstate 5 from Burbank to Bakersfield. Rii surveyed all the bridges in fewer than 40 hours which included more than 1 million square feet in survey area along this nearly 100 mile long stretch of freeway. The project was completed in 2007.

Santa Monica Viaduct and Vincent Thomas Bridge, District 7
Caltrans also contracted Rii to complete a GPR survey on the Santa Monica Viaduct and the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which are a combined 2.6 million in square feet. The Santa Monica Viaduct is approximately four miles in length with a roadway width of 120 feet. The project was completed in 2006.

San-Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, District 4 - 2005
Caltrans hired Rii in 2005 to complete a GPR survey on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, which are a combined 2.5 million in square feet. Rii surveyed the decks in fewer than six days with no disruption to traffic. The final report depicted both partial and full depth repair and was delivered in just six weeks.
